BUILDING TYPOLOGIES

1.  Which building typology you are researching?
Theater
2.  Why are you researching this building typology?
Because our site for the project located in downtown Brooklyn and has view on the Brooklyn bridge and Manhattan it has potential for a nice gathering space. The area also has educated young people that need places to hang out in their free time and interact socially and theaters can be nice place for them.

3.  What is the specialty of this building type you would like to research i.e.   museum for dance, school for digital media…
Theater for festivals and temporary shows such as acrobatic show, dancing or circus.

My goal for working with this type of building is to attract more people to the area and provide them gathering place.

Indoor amphitheater, galleries, rooftop restaurant, rehearsal studios

  2. I think specializing in acrobatics, circus and these types of extreme theater will be quite interesting as circus - usually just come to town and are "pop up" installations. With NY being so large, a permanent space would be great. Look up Streb - acrobatic performing group.
